Devoted to the unwanted animals.

So many animals start off as cute little balls of fur. Then for some reason or reasons, they grow up and are no longer cute but just a daily chore and are left by the side of the roads, abandoned, or taken to shelters because the owners died or no longer care to have an added expense or a dog or cat that is no longer a pup or kitten. The lucky ones wind up in shelters the other ones are subjected to hunger, the elements and are very lucky to survive.

This is where it started, I have always had a love of animals, rescued some and adopted some. At Christmas I called a No-Kill animal shelter, Animal resource center and asked what their needs were – the immediate response was beds so the animals do not have to sleep on the cold damp floors, I considered this a very noble request and it showed their true concern for the animals that they care for. In checking prices i found them to be expensive and wondered if there was a way to make them. I found a web site called "Columbus Dog Connection" in ohio had a site where a core group of volunteers makes beds for surrounding animal shelters at no cost through donations. They also had a tutorial on how to make them. I checked their plans and talked to a man who makes Boat Covers and a man who worked in a plastic factory. Between the three of us we revised their plans and came up with our own. It required the covers to be sewn – Now get this I had never sewn in my life so I went out and bought a used sewing machine, PVC pipe and Three way elbows and attempted to make a bed. It was like "Goldilocks and The Three Bears" The first one was to tight and I had to re-cut the pipes, the second one was too loose and had to cut new pipes, the third one was just right. Then I developed plans for different sizes and went on our local TV station TV35 and solicited Community help with a volunteer from The Animal Resource Center In Bloomsburg. 5 beds were made and displayed they were donated to the shelter. Our local Paper, the Standard Speaker & the Press Enterprise in Berwick along with our other local TV Station TV 13 all ran stories.

This is where it has blossomed into a core group of volunteers, and WE have one purpose in mind – to provide a comfortable bed to animals in shelters until they are adopted into a loving home. We believe in one animal, one shelter at a time until we sincerely hope there is no need for us anymore. Because all animals will have homes and people will adopt from shelters. There are so many loving, loyal, affectionate animals waiting for loving homes remember they did not want to be born or to be thrown by the wayside until there was a home for them.

Homeless Animals Prayer:

I ask for the privilege of not being born ... not to be born until you can assure me of a home and a master to protect me, and the right to live as long as I am physically able to enjoy life ... not to be born until my body is precious and men have ceased to exploit it because it is cheap and plentiful.

This is where we need help and will also reach out to any shelter who wishes us to help them. Currently we are still making beds for the Animal Resource Center and are also working on beds for the Hillside Shelter in Pottsville.

We are currently seeking non-profit organization status so keep in touch so we can update you.

Any donations received will be entirely used for making beds – they come in 4 sizes small, Medium, Large and Extra Large. They are constructed of 1 ¼" Plastic PVC pipe and heavy duty, durable and wash able fabric. The covers are replaceable.
